Delhi is not a city that many associate with adventurous activities as such. It is more of a cultural, architectural & a shopper’s delight and this holds true until Adventure Island arrived in the year 2008 which became a well-known amusement park for Delhi & its neighbouring states. Adventure Island is a part of the Unitech Amusement Parks Ltd project which combined this park with the Metro Walk, a large, well- designed, shopping & dining area.
Adventure Island is located in the Rohini area of West Delhi, very near the Rithala Metro Station on the Red Line; it is well-connected to the major parts of Delhi by roads too. As soon as you enter the parking area, the shuttle car service is waiting for you & drops you near the entrance. There is a separate area for teachers & students to buy tickets and they even get it at a discounted price. A normal ticket currently costs Rs 500 per adult & Rs 450 per child, all-inclusive tickets for all rides in the park. The park opens from 12 Noon-9 PM (this slightly varies from summers to winters).
Inside the Premises
The park is aesthetically built and has greenery & artificial lakes surrounding the area to go along with the man-made structures. There is a bridge right after the entrance, near which you can do boating; the same area also has a Double Splash Dunk which is basically a splash ride from two different heights.
As you move along the way, you come across two very interesting rides; while, Z force has an element of gravity & literally feels like a free fall from a cliff, Sidewinder takes you up close to the sky & throws you down real fast, while rotating on its own. Another ride which would fascinate you is the Sky Rider & on this ride, you lie down on your stomach & then you fly like Superman, literally!
Many of the adventure island rides have been designed by the architects having international experience like Disneyland & Universal Studios.
Another twisting tale of this park is the Twister Ride which takes you at the highest point & then as you come down, it revolves at 360 degrees four times. It somewhat makes you feel like taking a somersault in midair. Flip out is definitely the most adventurous ride of this place - it goes up like a normal ride and then suddenly flips in & out; up & down. Do go on this ride on an empty stomach!
For kids there are easy rides too like Crashing Cars, Cyclone, Fire Brigade, Rocking Tug & Bungee Trampoline.
It may amaze you to find a Rock Climbing wall in Adventure Island although the only low point is that they don’t have any climbing shoes. Also, a fountain area at the very rear end of this park becomes an open-air dance floor, where people love to get wet and dance on Hindi & Punjabi numbers. There are many restaurants inside the park but eating at the Metro Walk is highly recommended which has some of the nicest restaurants.
After a long, tiring, but adventurous day, you would only want to get back to your place & get some rest!
